I got this note a couple of days ago from Bill and I wanted to share it with everyone. It’s amazing what you can accomplish in a very short period of time if you have good information to work with and a mind clear of mechanical thoughts and quick fixes.

Ben,
I play in an after-work golf league for my company. Before purchasing your product, I was playing horribly … and I was considering quitting the game of golf altogether. I just couldn’t seem to hit the ball straight or consistently.
On Saturday and Sunday, I did your first drill with a few buckets of balls at the range. I saw immediate improvement — but, at first, I was a little inconsistent (I topped the ball and hit some weak shots occasionally). However, after a while, I got in a good groove of hitting the ball with good contact down and straight.
On Monday after work, I played my weekly league match. As it turned out, I played yesterday in a foursome with the best player in the league. Off the tee, I hit the ball long and straight on 7 out of 9 holes (2 of my shots faded to the right) … including 3 pars! While I didn’t score better than the best player in the league (I still need to work on your short game instruction), I was the most consistent player of our foursome off the tee during the 9-hole round. Considering my previous play, everyone was amazed (especially me).
Anyway, I just wanted to drop a note to say thanks. Usually after a round of golf, I have felt frustrated and dejected because I couldn’t achieve any consistency. Yesterday, I felt exhilarated — and was able to enjoy the experience. In a nutshell, your lessons have really helped!
Best regards,
Bill K

A few days ago a Golf Swing Secret customer sent me a couple of questions which I thought were very good and hope will be beneficial to all of you particularly as they relate to how to stop slicing and hooking.
You can always send me YOUR questions here: Ben@TheGolfSwingSecret.com

You seem to advocate taking the club straight back parallel to the target line then it goes straight up to the top. I see swings on the tour like steve stricker’s that looks like it goes more around than up ?
My reply: Typically the more around or flatter your swing happens to be… the more rotational you have to be to be a consistent ball striker.
When you swing flatter or around your body, lateral motion is a killer. I don’t really advocate either upright or flat… What I do try teach in The Golf Swing Secret is to take drill #1 in the program and using ball flight as your guide, blend your arm swing and turn together in a manner that will work consistently work for you.
Most of us simply don’t play or practice enough and/or we’re not flexible enough to make a rotational swing like Ben Hogan or to a lesser extent, Steve Stricker.
Therefore we’re forced by our limitations to use our arms and hands more so than most of the touring pros.
It’s been my experience that when I can get a student to forget how he or she is swinging and simply focus on the target, they’ll settle into a comfortable medium that they can repeat over and over within their own set of physical limitations and one that produces good results as they relate to distance and accuracy.
Work with the first drill in The Golf Swing Secret for a couple of practice sessions and after you get warm… as you swing, think of the target or the flight shape you want and not what your swing is doing.
Try to keep the target focused in your mind all the way through impact… this is difficult but can be accomplished and is very very effective.
Try this on short putts first if you want… and you’ll see what I mean… if you can keep the target pictured in your mind through impact, your body will react to that picture (the target) rather then trying to process all the mechanical stuff.

Also do you think the release is suppose to be automatic because I see slow motion swings of the pros and you can see their hands turn over.
I don’t feel that in my swing. I hit a lot a pushes & pulls.
My reply: At impact, the back of your left hand… and the face of the club will face down the target line… beyond that, the rest of the finish is simply a product of what has gone on earlier in the swing.
In a rotational swing like Ben Hogan’s, you’ll notice the right hand doesn’t pass the left until very late in the follow through…
The thing both these swings have in common is that they both square the club face to the intended target line at impact.
Bottom line: Find what works for you and forget everyone else. Drill #1 inside The Golf Swing Secret will accomplish this for you if you keep the right mind set and stop fretting over the details.
Hope this helps.
